Here Ye, Here Ye, Here Ye!
Today both Navigators and Explorers embarked on our journey to the Middle Ages!
The Middle Ages, which lasted from approximately 500-1500 A.D. was the age of knighthood. The first men to be referred to as "knights" were the mounted soldiers who arrived in England after the Norman Conquest of 1066.
At first, social class wasn't a factor in determining whether or not a man could become a knight; however, as the cost of armor and horses increased, only the boys of wealthy families who were usually nobility or the sons of knights, could train to become knights. I'll have more information on knights tomorrow.
UPCOMING TESTS:
Both Navigators and Explorers will have a Social Studies test on the countries which comprise North America on Thursday.
Explorers: Spelling test tomorrow.
