Monday, Sept. 10th

ANNOUNCEMENT:
This Friday, Sept. 14th at 8:25 during Gathering, the Explorers will be performing
The Star Spangled Banner.
It will be short, but heartfelt.
I hope you'll be able to attend.

I would like to also announce that my awesome Explorers had 100% return rate on their Friday Folders, classwork notebooks and their reading logs!! They were very excited to learn that because it was 100% return rate, each Explorer will be receiving one of my award winning "Betsy's Brownies". Those who have had me before were salivating! I'll be baking them tomorrow evening.

Please know that a Field Trip permission slip, which is on green paper, will be going home today with your Explorer. Your signature will serve as a "blanket" permission for your Explorer to be involved in the Dash Point State Park Stream Survey and Monitoring Project. It is because we will be traveling to the state park on various dates that this permission slip is vital. I thank you in advance for signing this form tonight and having your child return it to me tomorrow morning. There will be an update shortly about the start date of the Dash Point Stream Survey and Monitoring Project. We are still looking for drivers. I greatly appreciate those of you who have volunteered; but with two classes, ie. the Navigators and the Explorers, we will need more drivers than in previous years. Thank you for your assistance.

Explorers' Homework is as follows:

1. Green sheet permission slip signed and returned tomorrow.

2. Another book order packet is going home tonight. As with the book order forms that were sent home in last Thursday's packet, so, too, is this book order due this Thursday. Just in case you are wondering, this extra batch arrived Friday. It includes "Reader's Choice" , the Interactive Click Club and a special Tab Teen edition. Explorers are excited about all of these book orders. In subsequent months, only one packet of book order forms will be going home.

Monday nights: Math and Science: Please refer to Mr. Gonzenbach's website on myseabury.org.

Mrs. Gellert's Math class homework: Students are to spend NO MORE than 20 minutes trying to solve only ONE of the problems on their green math sheet. Students are to write down how they think the problem can be solved. I am more interested in learning how the student is thinking and which mathematical strategy application he is using.

Have a glorious afternoon and evening. Make sure you enjoy every minute of today's amazing, record breaking warm weather!
